Awesome side effects of being a mead maker: folks know you like fresh fruit! Look at these gorgeous pluots!! So tasty! It took hours to process them all but completely work it. I see a pluot based mead in the near future. Bonus, I held a few out and made a clafoutis, which is an easy, quick French dessert. It’s sort of like a Dutch baby with fruit within (stone fruits work best). Perfect summertime dessert. Clafoutis recipe included in this post. I used a recipe from @epicurious and modified a little. Good news and bad news stories, or once upon a tale of two meads. Good news: STRAWBERRY LEMON SQUEEZE IS BACK!! Not so good: I only have about 2&1/2 cases left because it sold fast! Bad news: Honey de los Muertos is now all sold out. Boooo. Good news: I have enough Gravenstein apple juice squirrelled away to make one more batch so more in an about 2-3 months. And let’s end it on some good news: @bbbeerdept in Santa Rosa and @thehivewoodland will have some of both of these meads very soon. That’s what small batch, craft beverage is all about.
